Plano, TX. based Vitro Packaging, Vitro’s subsidiary in the United States received three “Clear Choice Awards” by the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) in their 2003 annual contest at Las Vegas Hilton on October 13, 2003.
The Clear Choice Awards is sponsored by the GPI, and it’s the only awards program that recognizes product manufacturers that package their food, beverage, cosmetic and fragrance products in glass. It is the most important annual contest in the glass container industry in the United States.
GPI members produce glass containers for food, beer, soft drinks, wine, liquor, cosmetics, toiletries, medicine and more. In addition to serving domestic companies that manufacture glass containers, GPI also represents Canadian and Mexican glass container companies, numerous suppliers, and closure manufacturers.
Vitro Packaging winner products in the 2003 Clear Choice Awards were:
- Riggs & Forsythe of Riggs & Forsythe Specialty Beverages Limited, in the Carbonated Beverages Category.
- Navigo of Jafra Cosmetics International in the Cosmetic and Fragrance Products Category.
- Just Desserts of William Grant & Sons, Inc., in the Distilled Spirits Category.
Vitro Packaging competed with other leaders in the glass industry such as Saint-Gobain, Anchor Glass, and Owens-Illinois.
“I am pleased to announce that Vitro Packaging won three of the 10 categories in the GPI Clear Choice Award Contest. This is a great compliment to our innovative design capability. I also want to congratulate the Cosmetic Group for winning this category two years in a row”, said Lee Farlander, President of Vitro Packaging.
Since 1989, the Clear Choice Awards Program has honored product manufacturers who expand the frontiers of packaging design and use glass in innovative ways. This is the only awards program that recognizes the contribution glass packaging makes to the image and success of everyday products.
Almost 250 million Americans come into contact with a glass container every day, and this allows Vitro to participate in growing niche markets, such as wines, liquors, cosmetics and fragrances, and food and beverage, allowing Vitro to manufacture one of America's best-loved packaging materials: glass.
For this reason, Vitro is focusing on innovation and technology development focused on manufacturing value added containers, in line with its social responsibility and environmental philosophy. Today consumers recognize that glass containers are the best option to preserve its content and maintain the products attributes, as well as offering more hygiene.
The Glass Packaging Institute is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and represents glass container manufacturers throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
